Description
I love how sunflowers help us celebrate the arc of summer, shooting up in eary summer, coming to full bloom, and then hanging on as autumn's cooler evenings approach. They areeven beautiful as they close up into seed pods, when they'll become delightful food for birds. This image shows one flower holding onto its bloom, and then one that's pointed further away from the sun, is losing its hold, just as humans have to succumb to their own aging. This image is a celebration of sunflowers, and their role as metaphors for all living things. Some items, because of their shape, only have an image of the flower or the pod, but not both.

Sunflowers are such wonderful subjects. I like the way the blurry background draws the eye to the crisp lines and detail of the foreground.
