Description
The "Fine Art America" watermark logo will not appear on the image you purchase. This image pairs with another wood duck photograph taken during the same kerfuffle.
These wood ducks played "king of the log" while I was taking their photo. I was focusing on one duck on the piling of an old shipping dock, and then pouf, suddenly there were two wood ducks. The first wood duck was not happy, and it squawked then tried to push the other one off. A few moments later, the wood duck on the right was unexpectedly back in the water.
I love watching the behavior of these stunning ducks. The male wood duck drakes have vivid colors and striping during the mating season. By summertime, there plumage is much more neutral in color. The wood ducks typically choose mates in late winter, and usually remain monogamous for the yearly breeding cycle. Thank you!
