Artist's Description
This digital art piece was derived from a photograph of a boat outside Pin Point Heritage Museum, and then watercolor effects were applied to it. This skiff is moored outside the museum in the Pin Point community near Savannah, Georgia. The museum, which tells the story of this Geechee community, is in a former oyster and crab processing factory.
The seafood facility was iconic to the tight-knit community settled in the 1890's by ex-slaves, freedmen, and their descendants known as Geechee or Gullah-Geechee. The museum features artifacts from oyster processing and photographs of the community,
