Description
These three windows belong to the Adam-Strain Building in Darien, Georgia. This 1813 building was a mercantile store and ship chandlery. This building is part of a group of tabby structures that were burned by the Union Army in 1863. The Adam-Strain building was restored in 1873.
The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation designated it as one of the 2008 Places in Peril. Because of structural issues, its future remains uncertain. It's an amazing structure to see - its patina is haunting but almost beautiful at the same time. The building is mostly a cream and tarnished gray but this multi-color version celebrates the intrigue of time and conveys more of the dimensions in its surfaces.
