Description
This beautiful ridge trail is accessible from the Sunrise Overlook in the Mount Rainier National Park. This beatiful park has amazing trails, lakes, wildlife, overlooks, and lodges - enough to keep tourists busy for weeks.
At an elevation of 6,400-feet, Sunrise is the highest point you can drive to at Mount Rainier National Park. As you drive to the overlook, the mountain looms bigger and bigger, and the dropoffs get deeper. Some people might even hold their breath on some of the narrow winding sections on the way up.
With close-up views of the massive Emmons Glacier—largest glacier on the mountain; and hundreds of acres of meadows bursting with wildflowers; Sunrise is a great place to stop for a few hours to gawk, grab a snack at the Sunrise Day Lodge, or head up on the Sourdough Ridge Trail to the Freemont Overlook.
