Description
I call this art piece "Jekyll Island Stories at Driftwood Beach" because these amazing trees tell many tales of the evolution and devolution of Jekyll Island beaches. Jekyll Island has seen various waves of development, ranging from the days of the native American Timucua, to the millionaires in the 1900s, to tourists from all over today.
This particular beach, nicknamed "Driftwood Beach," tells a story of the island's tides and trees. Amidst a forest of dead gnarled trees, you can see vestiges of picnic tables and benches that have been overcome by the sea. The tree in this foreground bears someone's initials, possibly carved after the tree fell, but nevertheless it's part of a couple's story. This beach is a destination for nature photography, wedding photography, and Beachcomber, who enjoy watching the ever-changing light on these amazing trees.

This is so splendid, the dramatic light makes it even more so. I love Driftwood beach although I have only once been there for a couple of hours on a sunny afternoon last fall. Definitely a favorite for me!!
Sea Change Vibes replied:
Thanks, Bill! I don't get to see it very often but it was a family favorite in the past.
