Iceberg Point State Park on Lopez Island is a wonderful place to watch ships pass through Haro Strait, with the Olympic Peninsula and other parts of Lopez Island as a backdrop. The sweeping grassy vistas, punctuated by boulders and gnarled trees, are fascinating.
Visiting the cliffs and the sea can renew the soul and spirit. It's also a fun place to watch other hikers, as you can sometimes watch them for hundreds of yards from different vantage points. I kept seeing this "man in black" throughout my hike there. This image is based on an original photo with painterly effects applied.
I use the name Sea Change Vibes for my photography and design work because I love the ever-changing mood, colors, and tides of the sea. Ocean, lakes, and ponds have a deep influence on my work but I also love people, flowers, bridges, architecture, and about anything. Imagery can express so many emotions and thoughts across borders and languages. My love of photography helps me see the world in a different light, such as waiting for that moment when a duck stretches her wing or a musician stands on one foot. I wind up paying more attention to people and nature and other aspects of the world that are easily missed in our busy society. I love capturing that perfect photo but I also enjoy digitally altered photos, such as painterly styles,...
